Week 1 design process

This week we looked at the start of the design process. I have to design a new protective case for an iPod Touch. I searched on Google and Bing for cases that are currently available and located quite a number of them. Most of the cases offer limited protection for the iPod however are very appealing to the eye. Some cases do have fold over front pieces which I think protect the front very well. The cases were mostly made of plastic and some made of leather or synthetic leather. I couldn't find any that were water proof. Maybe I need to think more about function than fashion??
